  Top News:  
HyperLink Turner Ashby FFA members were very active at the Rockingham County Fair. The chapter won many ribbons in the Ag Mechanics building with projects hat had been constructed during the year. Also on display were Agriscience Fair Projects and Educational Displays. 11 members participated in exhibiting livestock with many placing with their animals and winning showmanship classes. The chapter also took an active part in operating the Rockingham FFA Federation Food Booth. It was not a record year in the food booth but we had a lot of fun. Thank you to all members that helped out at the fair.

HyperLink 2017 Turner Ashby FFA State Convention Results 16 TA FFA Members attended the 91st State FFA Convention in Blacksburg, VA on June 26-29. The Ag Issues team consisting of Kaitlyn Atkins, Baleigh Cline, Emily Daggett, Kendall Knicely, and Laurel Showalter placed first. The Marketing Plan team placed first with members Lyndsey Keagy, Melanie Lewis, and Hope Showalter. The Agriscience Fair competitors did very well. Winning at the State Level were Shelvin Arey and Paul Craun. Placing second, were Lyndsey Keagy and Hope Showalter. Placing third, was Emily Daggett and fourth was Melanie Lewis. Five members participated in Junior and Senior Agricultural Mechanics. Jacob Craun was recognized as the 8th high individual. Other members were Shelvin Arey, Clayton Armstrong, Matt Williams, and Jack Rhodes. Hunter Hilbert and Madison Swope both received 4th place in their divisions for Prepared Public Speaking. Lukas Cooper, Hunter Hilbert, and Brennan Miller all received their State FFA Degrees. Former Turner Ashby FFA member, Kelly Callender served as the 2016-2017 State FFA Treasurer this past year and finished her year of service at the Convention. The Turner Ashby FFA Chapter was recognized for the following Chapter Awards as well: FFA Scrapbook- Gold Rating Public Relations- Gold Rating Superior Chapter Rating National Chapter Award- Gold Rating with application being submitted to the National FFA for further judging to be recognized nationally 100% membership award- all students enrolled in the agricultural education program at Turner Ashby are FFA members thanks to the support of the Turner Ashby FFA Alumni Association.

Strawberry Sale The Turner Ashby FFA is now taking orders for fresh Florida strawberries. A flat of strawberries contains 8 one quart containers. We are selling each flat for $28. If interested please contact the Turner Ashby FFA by February 24 to place an order. The strawberries will be delivered to Turner Ashby on March 10 for pickup. Support the FFA and purchase fresh strawberries.

TA FFA Goes to Louisville On October 28, 14 members of the Turner Ashby FFA traveled by bus to Louisville, Kentucky for the 87th National FFA Convention and Expo. Over 60,000 FFA members and guests were present for this five day event. The TA students got to enjoy a dinner boat cruise on The Belle of Louisville, a concert by Justin Moore and Easton Corbin, a huge career fair and FFA shopping mall, 9 exciting sessions, workshops, and competitions. Turner Ashby student Hannah Craun competed in the National Agriscience Fair and was one of the top 15 finalist in her division. Kelly Callender, another TA student, ranked Silver in the National Dairy Handlers Career Development Event. Overall it was a very exciting trip filled with great activities that educated our members on how to GO ALL OUT with FFA!
